Very bad lag ever since update 1.4.2

Minecraft in general is a lot laggy since the new 1.4.2 update and was wondering why it was so. I have not got the best laptop but the frame-rate was relatively good until the newest update. Minecraft is nearly unplayable now. Please fix!
