Rapid Fire

Not sure if it's a bug, but I'm gonna mention it anyway.
1: Get some eggs or snowballs or potions in your hand.
2: Sprint.
3: Hold the 'USE ITEM' key.
You'll see that you'll fire rapidly. Is it a glitch or a hidden feature?
(I'm not using any hacks by the way)
