Horses' health bars interfere with the air bubble bar.

To reproduce:

1. Get a horse with more than 10 hearts of health
2. Tame said horse.
3. Start swimming in either survival or adventure mode, until you begin drowning.
4. Jump out of the water, and onto the horse.
   -> See that your replenishing air bubbles render under the horses' health, which looks quite weird.
