Texture Pack Default

Java downloaded 3mb this morning prior to game opening up. My textures are now dreadful and is making the game unplayable. I thought my graphic card had broken, but it is only a java issue.

It started at first, with stone being washed out, like grey concrete. I logged out and logged back in and ended up with these below. Appears to duplicate torches for instance one in red and one in blue. Everything has a red and blue stripe and colours are like playing on graphics in the very early games for pc's in the 90's.
