Redstone occasionally pops out when powered

On my current survival world, my automatic pumpkin farm often breaks and all the redstone pops out. It's not too complicated and I can fix it easily but it is annoying and I wouldn't want to see what would happen to larger builds.
I don't know how to reproduce it but I have a feeling that it only happens on worlds created pre-1.4.2
