Sometimes fuel won't burn on furnace when heat runs out

This has happened only 2 times playing on a remote snapshot server that is on 18w11a

When I place lava bucket, or coal as fuel and the furnace heat depletes with still iron or cobblestone to melt, the furnace just won't pick up the fuel and instead i have to remove the fuel and put it back to make it work.
