Shift-click does not work to put things in the oven

The summary pretty much says it all. I can't shift click to put things in the oven. I think it did work once or twice, and I tried to see if I could replicate it to see what I did, but I did everything I could think of, and it still didn't work. I can shift click to put things in the chest, though.
