Trident glitch with shield

Okay, I was playing Minecraft Java testing the new 18w09a snapshot and I found a glitch where if you get next to a zombie and try to throw the trident with loyalty while holding the shield then it won't come back and it's gone forever. I hope you fix this let me know if you did, Thanks.
