Can not craft without craft box

Can not craft without a craftbox. No torches. No andesite. Nothing.

Was playing the previous snapshot 18w05a the last few days. Worked great.
Logged into minecraft with new 10w06a snapshot.
Joined the same 18w05a world; now updated to 10w06a and tried to craft without a craft block.
