Unable to craft many items in 2x2 window

Does not work:

• Crafting bench with 1 oak plank in each space.
• Sticks with 1 oak plank in top-left, bottom-left.
• Wood pressure plate with 1 oak plank in top-left, bottom-right.

Works:

• Sticks with 1 oak plank in top-right, bottom-right.
• Wood pressure plate with 1 oak plank in top-left, top-right.
• Buttons
