Target selector NBT problem

The new NBT selector within the target selector doesn't seem to be working properly as SelectedItem is ignored. The command:
bq. execute as @a[nbt={Inventory:{minecraft:stone}}] run say hi
would say hi if the player had stone in their inventory, yet it doesn't.
