When I got into my launcher it said something had gone fatally wrong and I can only play the latest version of minecraft in default settings. Please help me!

When I join a server or a single player world on minecraft with 1.7.10 or 1.8 it just freezes and goes at 0 fps (Literally, not exaggerating) and I cant do anything. But when I go on 1.12 its fine please help! ive been playing minecraft since 2012 (Please note that in the affects versions area its false. It didnt have 1.7 or 1.8 so I just put that. Thank you.
