game crashes after flying above a certian altitude

whenever I try to fly above a certain altitude the game crashes, I have tried it on both Linux and windows on different pc's and it always crashes on Linux the entire computer freezes and since there is no ctrl alt del on Linux so I have to preform a hard reset on windows the pc freezes up and using ctrl alt del works; but the game still crashes.
