Unable to load world

I downloaded a minecraft map from minecraftmaps.com and got the .zip file. I extracted it directly into the minecraft saves folder but when I went into Singleplayer the world wasn't there. I deleted one of my unwanted worlds and then the world that wasn't showing up showed up.
