My red stone doesn't seem to be working.

I created a hopper clock with a item inside that was hooked up to a comparator. However, the comparator didn't seem to detect the item inside. Even if I try to keep the item inside for a while, it can't be detected. I would gladly appreciate it if you fixed it soon. Thank you.
