Full screen mode and GUI glitch

There is a glitch on a friend's Minecraft client (I'm reporting it for her because she doesn't have an account) which is doing two things: it makes it so she can't switch into full screen mode through the button or the F11 key, and it makes the GUI look like it's scaled down to the smallest setting. Fullscreen crashes the game but it doesn't appear in the crash log.
