My minecraft crashes upon launch returning me to the launcher display

My minecraft crashes upon launch returning me to the launcher display with a message saying "An unexpected issue occurred and the game has stopped. We're sorry for the inconvenience."
I have tired uninstalling and reinstalling minecraft and nothing has made a different. Quite confused on what is happening.
