Deleted chunks

I was playing on my Minecraft world, when I decided to close and re-open it to edit it in MCEdit. I forgot about editing it, and re opened the world immediately, and the chunks I was working in had disappeared, and I was now standing on generated terrain chunks, with most of my build destroyed.
