Items not updating while chest is open

What I thought would happen was...:
When I open a chest items being placed into the chests should be visible without leaving chest then reentering.

What actually happened was...:
When I opened a chest items being put into it from a dropper did not appear until I closed it then re-opened it

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Build a redstone pulser
2. Connect the pulser to a dropper
3. Connect Dropper to chest
4. Put multiple items in dropper
5. Make sure pulser is on then look in chest
