Fence gate Opening bug

I was just messing around then i shift clicked a fence gate while holding an item and it opened the closed super fast. I expected it to just open but it didn't it opened quickly then closed immediately.
To reproduce
1. Hold shift
2. Hold an item in your hand
3. Right click a fence gate.
