Internal Exception: java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

I attempt to join a server that a friend of mine made and when I get in the server I last about 30 seconds and after that it gives me an error saying "Internal Exception: java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host." I've attempted to turn off firewall on Windows 10 and I can't seem to fix the issue so if someone who knows how would please help.
