Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working

Every single time i try to play i launch the software i wait a bit and get to the mojang screen it freezes for a bit and i arrive at the title menu, every time i try to start a new world it freezes and i'm left with the notice "Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working". i haven't played AT ALL since buying this. if this problem persisted, i want my money back for this trash
