Horses disappearing after riding for a while

I was playing Survival minecraft and was on a trip to find a jungle biome. After about a days worth of riding i dismounted to sleep. However, as soon as i dismounted my horse disappeared along with the saddle and horse armor. I then found a plains, got a new horse and the same thing happened when i dismounted.
