Very random bug. When I break a chest with cooked steak in it, I only get 6 cooked steaks back.

The chest is in the same room as the wolves. And the steaks inside the chest are unstacked, but I filled 32 steaks individually in the chest. When I go to break the chest, the chest dissapears, along with 26 of my 32 cooked steaks. Now I thought to myself the wolves could've eaten them somehow, but it dissapers so fast, they're all sitting down and this has happend twice. Each time I'm left with 6 pieces of cooked steak. So why would they leave 6 pieces of steak and eat the chest instead?
