Water in Village Farm Flows Through Wood Blocks

In villages the water in the farms can pass through the wooden blocks.
It doesn't create a new source block on the other side of the wood block, just carries on flowing through it, if you walk/swim through the strange water, it's still normal water (i.e it is there, it's not just a weird minecraft mirage )
