/playsound command problem

I have a problem with the latest version 1.12 the / playsound command does not work. I put it in the command_block and I get the message "the sound ... was played at geoffrey0797" but I do not hear the sound. In the settings all sounds are maximum. I do not know where it came from. Is this a bug in the version?
