No game sounds or game music

None of my sounds work in Minecraft version 1.12, BUT they worked perfectly fine in all the previous versions, AND all the snapshots. I've tried reinstalling Minecraft, and I made sure that my Java is up to date, I even tried pressing F3 + S, still no sounds. I also tried reverting to an older version of Minecraft, just to see if the problem was somewhere in my computer and not the game, but the sounds work perfectly in the older versions.
