Adult horses/donkeys/mules cannot ride in boats

Unlike other mobs, adult horses (and donkeys/mules) cannot be pushed into a boat. Baby horses can ride in a boat (and both adult and baby horses can ride in minecarts), but when I try to push an adult horse into a boat, it just walks on top of it and doesn't "snap" in.
