I tried to give myself jumping boost for ten seconds then opened my inventory with 'E' and I crashed.

I had previously created a survival world, I wanted to test out the /effect command as I hadn't already. This is what I typed - /effect Bruxen 8 10 and I was given 10 seconds of jumping boost. Nothing was wrong until I tried to open my inventory immediately afterwards when I froze then crashed.
