/clear command fails when being put in a command block

When i was making a commad i waned the inventory to be clear every 10 seconds
I got the timeings right but when i tested it it said No item found in (players name) inventory
To reproduce
Connect a redstone clock to a command block
run for a few minutes
stop
get any item
try /clear and it dosent work
