Crash upon crafting without accessing recipe book first

Upon creating a new world (Survival Single-Player tested), launching that world, and attempting to use the player's 2 x 2 crafting grid for any recipe, the game will crash to desktop upon attempting to craft the item. This behavior only occurs if the player does not access the recipe book before crafting; if the recipe book is opened, the 2 x 2 crafting grid will work as expected, even after the recipe book is closed, or if the items are placed into the crafting grid manually.
