red cloud in the end?

I really don't know if this is an issue, but I couldn't find anything referencing it(second bug). I was in the end for the first time and I spawned mid air, about 60 blocks from a large floating island with endermen and the dragon. I had to get someone to join me and bring dirt just to reach the island. That's one bug. Then, shortly after I got to the island, I seemed to be attacked by a red cloud? It was low to the ground, not too much bigger than two blocks. There weren't endermen nearby and I hadn't provoked the dragon yet. It looked like the texture of leaves, but dark red. I tried to fight it off, but? I don't know what it was or if it was a bug. If this is something normal, please just delete this bug report.
