Can not see Sheep eating the wheat or experience points but baby IS born!

When I go to feed the sheep wheat, it doesn't do anything I still have the wheat in my hand even if I just have one! But the sheep will still kiss and a baby will appear, I HEAR the experience points but I can't see them and I don't see any heart above the sheep either! It's a very odd glitch. I have come out of the game and tried again, I even created a new world but the bug still stands.
