Flame overlay stuck on character

I'm playing in a Survival LAN game with one other player and was killed by a flaming zombie during the day. When I respawned, the flames were still on my screen even though I wasn't taking any damage from it. Going in water, or even death by drowning doesn't cause the flames to go away.
