Cannot modify superflat worlds

I have gone onto Minecraft on a Mac and my PC. Both times, I have tried to make a superflat world with 99 layers of sandstone and 1 layer of bedrock. Both times, I have tried to change the superflat settings, but when I clicked "customize" (I have tried multiple times on both devices) it immediately crashed my game and brought me back to the launcher.
