Lost connection to minecraft.net after choosing new username.

After changing my username I relogged into minecraft and attempted to get into realms when an error message came up saying I was not connected to Minecraft.Net.
As a result I can not access my worlds, realms and I have tried on all versions.
I cannot change my name back as the Mojang Minecraft Support says I can which is another issue altogether.
