Advancements issues (Follow An Ender Eye & Enter The Portal)

I can't seem to get advancements for "follow an ender eye" and "enter a gateway". I made a new ender pearl, threw it, followed it, picked it up, threw it again (x3) times until the pearl disappeared and I STILL didn't get the advancement. Similar with "enter a gateway": i killed a dragon, the new gateway appeared, I teleported into it via ender eye, teleported back, jumped into the end portal that takes you back to the overworld and STILL didn't get that advancement.
