Recipe book button texture not there

When the new recipe book was introduced I didn't see it until I saw a picture of where it was and then I could use it this happens both in the crafting table GUI and inventory GUI and the rest of my friends use a windows and they can see the button texture yet when i use my Mac or Linux it doesn't show up
