Launcher will not load minecraft - Game ended with bad state (exit code -1073740791)

When launching minecraft, the launcher return this error code soon after launch. Game ended with bad state (exit code -1073740791)

I have re-installed java 8.122, and have also tried using java 8.20 - which comes with minecraft, both x64 versions as I'm using windows 10 x64. There is no crash report generated.
