Activating items stops working and game resets

When playing the game (PC version), every once in a while I'll lose the ability to pick things up, open chests, use weapons and crafting tables, etc. This lasts anywhere from 1-10 minutes, and then it resets to where the game was before the glitch started. This happens almost once every day-night cycle, and seems to be getting longer and more frequent. Any ideas what could be going wrong?
