Player still on fire while in water

I was in a realm server and my friend had placed lava everywhere, and upon dying in lava i fell in more and then went in to water to be put out - but wasn't.
Basically, when I had respawned, the block under me was lava and i fell into it as i went down and there was water under that and I stayed on fire. See screenshots.
