Keyboard Lag

Whenever I press a button on my keyboard, the action will take a moment to react, then keep going, (only for a moment) when I release the key.

What I expected to happen was I pressed space to increase height while flying,

When I pressed space, it took a moment to happen.

this happens in all directions, jumping/flying and crouching.
