Water still continues to flow when source block cut off

1. make a one by one hole 4 blocks deep
2. on third block up place sign and a water source block above
3. break sign allowing water to flow to the bottom for a second
4. replace the sign and the water underneath the sign doesn't update
*the same happens with lava as well
