Death message when killed by multiple entities in 1 place displays weird symbols

I was on my realm in 1.11 and used an elytra launcher. my elytra didn't engage and i fell into the boats I started taking damage and was eventually killed. The death message was very weird. I have included 2 screenshots showing the death message
