Pumpkin Pies disappear from chests

A full stack (64) of pumpkin pies disappeared from a double chest

What I expected to happen was...:
For the stack to remain in the chest OR the game skipped saving and the ingredients for the pumpkin pies were still in their old chests

What actually happened was...:
The pies were gone from their chest, and so were the ingredients I used to make them

Steps to Reproduce:
The chest was placed 10 blocks underground and within a 30 block radius from a saddled horse and a large number of bred cows that despawned at the same time

Both the horse and the pies despawned after leaving the chunk and coming back

Before this a large amount of animals were bred;

• chickens (about 20 baby chickens, underground and within a 15 block radius of the chest)
• cows (about 15 baby cows, above ground, within a 5 block radius of the horse)
• pigs (about 4 baby pigs, within a 5 block radius of the horse)

Before this a sword was enchanted with a lvl 30 enchantment
