cyan wool causing my game to crash and refusing to be put in my hotbar

I was trying to build something and i went to get some cyan wool for my build and every time it was causing my game to crash but the thing is i was not using any mods at the time and my game doesnt normally do that

and then before posting this report i tried it again to see if it was just a thing that would happen twice, it didnt then make my game crash , but the game was not allowing me to place my wool into my hotbar- i know that bit probably isnt a bug but i reported it just in case...
