When the player is killed by a ghast fireball, all items are instantly killed

The bug

If you get killed by a ghast (using their fireballs), your items will be killed. This may be caused by the fireball explosion after you die, which is odd because this doesn't happen with for example; creepers.

How to reproduce

1. Run:

   /give @s stone 500
   

2. Summon a ghast (/summon minecraft:ghast) and press F3 + C (to save coordinates).
3. Let the ghast kill by shooting fireballs at you.
4. Return by pasting in the command you saved earlier.
   → All your items are gone
