Horse dissappears after dimounting

I was riding a horse that was equipped with a saddle and gold horse armor. After dismounting the horse it immediately disappeared. you could still hear it but it was nowhere to be seen. I looked around to verify that it just did not somehow wander off but it did not. I left that area and after returning some time later, roughley a day, the horse was exactly where I had left it.
