Tipped Arrow and Totem Of Undying

I shot myself with an tipped arrow of instand damage II and fell simultaneously. While this happend i was holding a totem of undying in my off-hand. It triggered, but i still died... I am not sure if it was because I hit the ground after I shot myself, but I did not fall such a distance, that I would take over 4 Hearts Damage, i think...

I tried to recreate that, but everytime I shot myself with the tepped arrow and died from it while holding the totem the game crashed.
I am not sure if the first thing i discribed is a bug, but at least the second one is.
