Game crashes when coal placed in furnace

What I expected to happen was...:
I placed a furnace, and I expected to be able to put coal into the furnace so that I could cook steak.

What actually happened was...:
The game crashed three times. The first time, I tried to quick load the coal and the game crashed. The second time, I tried to manually place a piece of coal into the furnace and it crashed as well. The third time, I mined some cobble and moved around a bit, then placed the furnace in a different location. When I tried to place the coal in the furnace, the game crashed again.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Place a furnace anywhere. I'm not sure if it matters, but this was done at night in my first night shelter.
2. Try to put coal into the furnace.
3. Watch the game crash.
